The Glendronach 30 & 40 Year Old: A New Chapter in Sherry Cask Mastery

Glendronach 30 & 40 Year Old The Three Drinkers

Two rare releases showcase four decades of patience, craftsmanship, and the art of sherry cask ageing.

For nearly two centuries, The GlenDronach has been synonymous with rich, sherry-cask-matured whisky. From its Highland home in the Valley of Forgue, the distillery continues to prove why it’s regarded as one of Scotland’s masters of maturation. Now, The GlenDronach unveils two remarkable new expressions: the 30-Year-Old and the 40-Year-Old 2025 Edition – each representing the height of its craft.

What Makes The GlenDronach 30-Year-Old So Special?

The GlenDronach 30-Year-Old is a beautifully composed Highland Single Malt that highlights the distillery’s sherry cask artistry. Under the guidance of Master Blender Rachel Barrie, the whisky brings together three distinct sherry cask styles: Pedro Ximénez, Oloroso, and, for the first time, Amontillado.

Barrie explains, “With the 30-Year-Old, we have composed a symphony from our most historic sherry cask styles. Three decades of maturation have resulted in a sublime and charming Single Malt, with generous layers of rich and complex character.”

The inclusion of Amontillado adds elegant notes of toasted hazelnut and crème caramel, perfectly balancing The GlenDronach’s hallmark dark cherry, chocolate, and spiced fruit tones. Presented in a walnut curl veneer case engraved with 30 facets, a nod to the years of patient ageing, this release is priced at £1,000 and available at Selfridges.

How Does the 40-Year-Old Represent the Peak of GlenDronach’s Craft?

The 40-Year-Old 2025 Edition is the distillery’s ultimate expression, a rare whisky composed from a small number of hand-selected Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks. Matured over four decades in Spanish oak, it offers an extraordinary depth of flavour and a velvet-smooth texture that speaks to The GlenDronach’s time-honoured expertise.

Barrie shares, “At forty years old, it represents four decades of sherry cask refinement, polished by time to become the ultimate expression of The GlenDronach. It is a privilege to be the custodian of such remarkable casks.”

Expect a nose of black cherry, stewed plum, and blackberry, followed by a palate of bramble compote, prune, raisin wine, and cinnamon-laced chocolate espresso. Bottled at 43.9% ABV (Natural Cask Strength), it’s presented in a dark rosewood case with brass details and a golden plinth, a fitting vessel for a whisky of such stature. Retailing at £5,000, it is available through select global markets and Selfridges.

Why Are These Releases Important for Collectors and Enthusiasts?

The GlenDronach’s reputation rests on its mastery of sherry cask maturation, and these new releases reaffirm that legacy while deepening it. The 30-Year-Old introduces the Amontillado cask for the first time, while the 40-Year-Old showcases the distillery’s commitment to refinement through time, patience, and precision.

In an era of innovation and experimentation, The GlenDronach proves that true artistry still lies in tradition. Each bottle is not merely a whisky. It’s a time capsule of craftsmanship, matured to perfection beneath the cool stone walls of Forgue.

Ring the Alarm: Piper-Heidsieck’s ‘Code Rouge’ Ignites the Holidays in Style

If there were ever a Champagne that begged to be unleashed, it’s this one. Just in time for Christmas, Piper-Heidsieck (the house that’s never been afraid of a little drama) has dropped its latest limited-edition showstopper: the “Code Rouge Edition.” Exclusive to Selfridges from November 2025, this fiery red collectible doesn’t whisper luxury; it shouts it, all while winking at tradition.

Is It a Champagne or an Emergency Kit? (Maybe Both)

Forget the usual foil and label routine. The Code Rouge Edition arrives in a sculptural, metallic red case shaped like a vintage fire extinguisher, a playful nod to life’s “Champagne emergencies.” Finished in gold, secured by a quarter-turn lock, and emblazoned with the words “In case of Champagne emergency, break open case,” it’s part celebration, part spectacle.

It’s Piper-Heidsieck doing what Piper-Heidsieck does best: taking the seriousness out of sophistication. The result? A piece of design you’ll want to show off long before you pop it open.

What’s Bubbling Inside This Red Hot Release?

Inside the bold exterior sits the Cuvée Brut, the signature Piper-Heidsieck Champagne that captures the house’s spirited elegance. Made from a trio of Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay grapes sourced from over 100 crus, it’s as expressive as it is refined.

The first sip delivers bright pear, white peach, and citrus, followed by orange blossom, toasted almonds, and a whisper of mint. It’s vibrant, harmonious, and joyfully alive, the kind of Champagne that makes any moment feel just a little more cinematic.

Why Does Piper-Heidsieck Keep Getting Design So Right?

Piper-Heidsieck’s ‘Code Rouge’ The Three Drinkers

Because it never plays it safe. Piper-Heidsieck has long treated Champagne as both an art form and an attitude, with collaborations spanning Jean-Paul Gaultier, Viktor & Rolf, and Christian Louboutin. From lipstick boxes to sound-inspired cases, every design is a declaration that Champagne should be seen as much as it’s sipped.

“This is Piper-Heidsieck at its boldest,” says CEO Stéphane Decaux. “Piper-Heidsieck lights up life’s celebrations with joy. This uniquely designed set is not just a gift, it becomes a call to celebrate boldly.”

Mission accomplished.

So, Who’s This For?

At £65.99 and available exclusively through Selfridges, the Code Rouge Edition hits that sweet spot between collectible and accessible. It’s for the person who’s impossible to buy for, the host who always brings the flair, or simply anyone who thinks life’s too short for boring bottles.

Because really, when the year winds down and the Champagne cravings rise, there’s only one emergency worth breaking glass for, and Piper-Heidsieck’s Code Rouge is it.

A Rosé Revolution: How Eisberg is Redefining Alcohol-Free Elegance

Eisberg bottle line up

There was a time when ordering an alcohol-free wine felt a bit like announcing you'd brought your own teabags to a cocktail bar. Fast forward to today and the story couldn't be more different. In a world that increasingly values mindful choices, Eisberg has emerged not just as a participant in the alcohol-free movement, but as a trailblazer and with a legacy built on taste, quality, and a deep understanding of evolving lifestyles, Eisberg has long stood as the beacon for those looking to say "yes" to the wine glass and "no" to the alcohol content.

How long has Eisberg been around?

Rewind almost 35 years, and Eisberg was quietly paving the way for a wine-loving world that just didn’t know it needed alcohol-free options yet. Back then, the range was compact - four steadfast styles for those abstaining, moderating, or just wanting to sip something different. For the longest time, Eisberg was the non-alcoholic wine choice because, quite frankly, it was the only one.

Fast forward to now, and the world is thirsty for change. The low and no movement is no longer niche - it's a cultural shift. People are drinking less, choosing better, and seeking wines that fit their lives, not the other way around. Eisberg has responded by moving from being a quiet companion on the shelf to a dynamic innovator with purpose and polish enabling it to maintain its crown as the non-alcoholic wine to enjoy.

What Makes Eisberg Stand Out?

Eisberg stills

Now let’s talk science - but don’t worry, this is the delicious kind.

Eisberg’s secret sauce lies in their vacuum distillation method, and yes - it’s as cool as it sounds. Picture a three-storey glass still that looks more at home in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory than a winery. It gently warms the wine to just 30°C in a vacuum, removing the alcohol with a whisper rather than a bang.

Why vacuum distillation? Because it’s the smooth operator of alcohol removal. Unlike spinning cone methods that rely on mechanical intervention (a bit rough and ready), this process preserves the wine’s soul without disrupting its chemical balance.

They’ve recently added a second still - sleek, stainless steel, and oh-so-efficient. Operating at even lower temps (27-28°C), it’s powered by solar energy and designed with sustainability in mind. What does this mean? Eisberg now has more freedom to experiment, more capacity to innovate, and more ways to deliver quality in every single bottle.

What wines does Eisberg produce?

Image of Eisberg non alcohol wines

Eisberg isn’t a one-trick pony. It’s a full stable of serious wines.

At the heart of it all is the Signature range - your dependable, everyday favourites. Think crisp Sauvignon Blanc, juicy rosé, ripe Chardonnay, and bold Cabernet Sauvignon. These are the wines that introduced the world to Eisberg’s ethos: alcohol-free that doesn’t feel like a compromise.

Then comes the Selection range - Eisberg’s couture collection. Premium wines made with higher-quality base wines, a more delicate touch, and less residual sugar. The range includes a refined Pinot Grigio and an elegant Pinot Noir - and now, the pièce de résistance: Grenache Rosé.

But wait - there’s more.

Launching in July: Eisberg’s new canned range. Perfect for picnics, festivals, or park bench happy hours with your besties. There’s even a mulled wine for winter - because why should festive joy require a hangover?

Every product is vegan. Every sip is alcohol-free. And the mission? Every glass, every occasion.

The Spotlight: Grenache Rosé

Eisberg Grenache Rosé

Creating the Grenache Rosé was a little like composing a love letter to Provence - but writing it in Eisberg’s own elegant hand.

The goal? To craft an alcohol-free rosé that could hold its own next to the pale, salmon-hued darlings of the south of France. The benchmark was clear: dry, crisp, aromatic, and oh-so-refreshing.

They landed on Grenache, a staple of high-end rosé, after countless taste tests, searching for that signature profile: hints of dried cranberry, floral blossom, citrusy lift, and a clean, mineral finish. Then came the base wine, sourced from trusted growers across Europe, followed by the magic of vacuum distillation.

And here’s the twist: when Eisberg dealcoholizes wine, they do it all in one go. There are no second chances. No added aromas to mask or mimic. Just one shot to get it right. And they did.

The Grenache Rosé is the driest wine Eisberg has ever made, balanced using grape must for texture and structure. It’s proof that when you start with better wine, you get a better result. No adjustments, no syrupy weight - just sophistication in a glass.

Whether you’re at a garden party, barbecue or Sunday brunch, this one is set to become your new go-to

What are Eisberg’s future plans?

Eisberg Future Releases

With a second still up and running, Eisberg can now play in bold new territories. From VDP-level Rieslings to food pairing concepts that treat alcohol-free wine with the reverence it deserves, the future is looking fabulous.

There’s talk of richer reds that don't lean on sugar for body, sparkling experiments, and perhaps even more bespoke seasonal offerings. Whatever comes next, Eisberg’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and pleasure stays the same.

So, here’s to the new era of wine - a world where alcohol is optional, but pleasure is mandatory. Eisberg isn’t just redefining alcohol-free wine; they’re making it damn desirable.

Cheers to that.

If you want to pick up a bottle of Eisberg, you can from £3.25 at the following retailers: Tesco, COOP, Morrisons, Ocado. Thirsty for more drinks news? Make sure you click here!

Lewis Hamilton Creates Non Alcoholic 'Tequila'

Lewis Hamilton Creates Non Alcoholic 'Tequila' Almave

For those who are fans of the taste of Tequila and F1 Racing, we have news of an exciting collaboration! Lewis Hamilton has ventured off the racing track and into the world of Tequila by helping to create Almave, a brand new non-alcoholic ‘Tequila’.

So, who else is part of this amazing joint venture as well as the 7 time formula one world champion, Sir Lewis Hamilton? It is none other than renowned biochemist Iván Saldaña, creator of some of Mexico’s most innovative spirits. Saldaña founded Casa Lumbra in 2011, which went on to create favourites such as Ancho Reyes, Abasolo Ancestral Corn Whisky and Montelobos Mezcal, to name but a few. However, until Lewis Hamilton got involved they had not yet created any non-alcoholic variations.

There are other options of non-alcoholic products aimed at Tequila fans on the market, but Lewis felt they were all missing something, they didn't quite make the podium so to speak! The exciting fact about Almave is the process used to make it captures that same level of taste and enjoyment found in the alcoholic equivalent. Almave is made from blue Weber agave, using traditional tequila production, with a multi step distillation process in traditional copper pots. The difference is fermentation is completely skipped, so it remains totally alcohol free, while still keeping all the taste and feel of traditional tequila. This does, however, mean it cannot officially be called Tequila, as true tequila is required to have alcohol content.

What does it taste like you might ask? Well, there are two different options, Amabar and Blanco, which replicate the flavours found in aged (Amabar) and Blanco/Silver (Blanco) tequila. The Amabar is dark and rich with aromas of caramel and vanilla and flavours of brown sugar, Allspice and Cacao. Blanco has more of a fruity, sweet and herbaceous note with a hint of acidity.

If you’re looking for other ways to enjoy this non-alcoholic ‘tequila’, here is a fabulous mocktail suggestion…

ÁMBAR CARAJILLO

Ingredients
2 oz Almave Ambar
1 oz Cold Brew Concentrate
0.5 oz Agave Nectar
3 dashes Orange Bitters
1 dash Aromatic Bitters
A dash of salt

Method
Combine all the ingredients in a shaker, add ice and shake vigorously. Strain the mix into a small coupe glass, making sure to shake out all that good foam for a nice head. Lightly squeeze an orange peel on top and enjoy!

A New Original Glenmorangie

New Original Glenmorangie 12 Year Old Scotch Whisky The Three Drinkers

The regular expressions created by the big names in Scotch distilling rarely change. There might be differences in packaging over the years, but the liquid is as consistent as possible with most brands starting their age statement ranges with a 12 year old single malt Scotch whisky.

One brand has bucked this trend to create a whisky they feel is an improvement on their existing lowest age statement, and that brand is Glenmorangie. The Glenmorangie Original was a 10 year old whisky, and over the years, Dr Bill Lumsden, Director of Distilling, Whisky Creation & Whisky Stocks has tried to improve it. How to improve on perfection was always the conundrum.

Incredibly, over the last year, Dr Bill has managed to do just that, and he’s done so not by improving the 10 year old, but by creating a 12 year old. Now this might seem an obvious move, however, when they had such a great expression of Glenmorangie in the 10 year old, the 12 year old would need to reflect its predecessor’s character and increase in quality. There are plenty of The Original drinkers who would be very upset if their favourite flavours in a whisky were taken from them.

The new Original 12 year old has all the elements of the 10 year old, but with more. More richness and fruitiness, it is as if they have taken the 10 year old and turned the volume up past 10. To 12 shall we say?! There are heightened creamy notes, and the fruits are that little bit more intense. There are elements which were incredibly subtle in the 10 year old that now come through with more prominence. For example, there are some delicate spicy notes which develop on the palate that were not there before.

There are also subtle changes to the packaging. A slightly darker orange is used, and the swirls on the packaging have also been darkened, these small changes reflecting the difference in the liquid. But the biggest difference is the age statement. The price is almost the same with an increase of just £1, which for the improvements in flavour is an absolute bargain.
